Robyn – Indestructible

Robyn’s final ‘Body Talk’ installment is going to be released soon and since I haven’t posted a music entry in the past few weeks so let me share you one of my favourite tracks in her album. This is an edit of ‘Indestructible’.

Robyn Indestructible

And I never was smart with love… I let the bad ones in and the good ones go but… I’m gonna love you like I’ve never been hurt before… I’m gonna love you like I’m indestructible. Your love is ultramagnetic, not again it’s taking over. This is hardcore…and I’m indestructible.

Amazing eh?

Good Advice, Bad Advice

Good Advice, Bad Advice

As strange as it sounds, I’m constantly inundated with emails from my readers asking for fashion advice. Advice on what to buy, advice on what to wear, advice on personal style, etc.

Bryanboy, Anna Piaggi and Anna Dello Russo at Emilio Pucci Spring Summer 2011
Me, Anna Piaggi and Anna Dello Russo at Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Show

While I mostly blog about myself (and fashion), I find it funny that some come to me with their sartorial questions when I’m hardly fashionable or stylish myself. A relative once asked me why I like going out looking like a christmas tree.

I blog about “fashion”, yes, such as the things I like, the things I’ve seen, the things I’ve worn, etc.

However, giving advice is something I’m not good at. It’s also something I don’t want to do.

I hope you understand (and accept my apologies) if I don’t personally respond to your emails seeking advice because I cannot tell you what will look good on you without seeing let alone knowing you.

It wouldn’t make sense for me to dictate ‘ok this is what you should wear’ only for you to end up not liking it, or worse, thing that you’ll put on is not YOU.

Dressing up, to me, comes from within. The things that we put on our bodies should reflect ourselves: our mood, our emotions, our personality.

With that being said, there are many countless style blogs and magazines out there to draw inspiration from.

Me, on the other hand, I draw inspiration from myself. I know it’s narcissistic but you won’t see me collect photos of people to try to emulate them or add my own ‘twist’ to their looks.

I believe in individuality and being unique. Looking different to everyone regardless of the trend gets brownie points in my book. I like it when there’s something ‘not right’ or something ‘off’ or if I look ‘ridiculous’ to the eyes of others. Afterall, I dress for myself. Looking “perfect” is too easy. Take a look around and notice how beautiful people look these days? There are many, many, many beautiful individuals out there.

Unless you have your own personal style nailed down, it doesn’t hurt to play around with our looks and have fun in the process.

So go right ahead and play with fashion. Always remember individual style triumphs over conformity. Don’t forget to march to the beat of your own drum.

Walking, Hiking, Climbing, Maybe 69ing (NOT!)…

Not satisfied with the day trip I had on Saturday, the bf and I spent the whole Sunday walking around the suburbs. We went south, to the woods. Real woods with real trees, lakes (or river??), hills, etc. I’m the least outdoors-y person out there but our trip made me fall in love with mama nature.

Walking on Cobblestone

At first I thought I’d wear a pair of high heels for our day trip but after three corns (I know, gross), rough feet and more than a month of wearing them non-stop, I wore these super comfy shearling-lined Burberry Prorsum boots from their Fall/Winter 2010 collection.

Heels make great photographs yes, but sometimes, common sense prevails.

Royal Gripsholm Castle, Sweden

Maria picked me and the bf early in the morning to go to Mariefred, a Swedish town 65 kilometers outside Stockholm, where the Royal Gripsholm Castle is located.

Inside the Royal Gripsholm Castle you’ll find the National Portrait Collection (of Sweden, duh) spanning over 4,000 paintings starting from the 1500s and onwards.

Pictures to follow.

Not for Cameras, Bye

Trust me, Swedish is quite possibly the most difficult language to learn.

The best way to learn any language, whether it’s French or Norwegian, is to practice it with a native to get the right pronunciations. Both friends and the bf have been teaching me Swedish words. It’s the bf’s turn this time around and I recorded our conversation when we walked from the train station to his flat.

Yesterday’s Dinner

One of the bf’s friends invited us for an initimate dinner yesterday at his lovely home. I must say it was one of the best dinners I had. Everything was perfect; our host was a complete gentleman.

After our meal, he played the piano… we stayed at his place for five hours, until 1AM… it’s a miracle that we made it on the long train ride home.

StevieBoi: Seeing Is Believing

For the past two years, indie designer Steven C. Strawder (a.k.a. StevieBoi) has been selling his creations under the name (T0xic) online and in niche boutiques. His latest creations, these Super-Duper-Fly sunglasses, are uniquely on trend (especially with low-visibility sunglasses all the rage on ’09 runways). And at 80% visibility, anyone looking to wow their fashion-forward friends should definitely snag a pair — just don’t wear them while driving on dark country roads. (Sure, they can run up to $60 pair, but nobody ever said making a fashion statement was going to be cheap, right?) See them for yourself at StevieBoi.com.

Cynthia Rowley’s Designer Band-Aids via [allure and myfashioncent]

cynthia-rowley-designer-bandaids_main.jpgNow that I’m a bona fide grown-up, few things make me feel more childish than when I have to wear an ugly beige Band-Aid. But designer Cynthia Rowley just announced she has designed limited-edition “Dress Up Band-Aids” that are so cool I might pull a Nelly and just start wearing one on my face every day. I’d probably skip the design that just says her name (I’m not convinced a paper cut is an appropriate spot for product placement), but the rest of the Band-Aids in the retro metal tin are colorful and whimsical, covered in bows, jewels, chains, metallic sequins, or scenes from Rowley’s runway shows. If I’d had these when I was a kid, maybe I wouldn’t have cried so much about skinned knees.

Fragrance Reviews and Film Trailer for Gucci Guilty via [elle, mimifroufrou and socialitesanonymous]

Gucci Guilty

gucci-guilty-ad-B.jpg

Gucci is taking a new approach to fragrance promotion.  The Italian fashion powerhouse has created a film to promote their new fragrance Gucci Guilty.  Check out the trailer for the film below:

Frank Miller’s “Gucci Guilty” Commercial Starring Evan Rachel Wood and Chris Evans

Soundtrack by Friendly Fires.

Gucci Guilty, it turns out, carries a message with it which is at the antipodes of a Catholic guilt trip. Turning the fallen-Eve concept on its head, Gucci is launching a perfume which is advertised starting with these words “The Guilty woman is...” Not “This woman is guilty of…”

“The Guilty woman is a glamgirl, daring and audacious; she likes to seduce; she is perceived as sexy. She is obsessed by fashion; she likes to go out and party; she only thinks about gratifying herself. Gucci Guilty…never feel guilty taking pleasure!”…

The fragrance is described as a floral oriental.

I tested it a bit the other day. For now, I’ll confirm that it has a very sexy drydown. In a previous tweet, I said in an early reaction to it that it is “a subtle, sexy, feminine signature rather than a big-statement perfume. Great bottle which can be used as a mirror.” Later that day, I thought that I should have added the terms “very sexy,” and that the name “Guilty”, with its sulfurous connotation, now made more sense. But here the sexy feeling deepens rather than jumps on you in the opening stage.

Notes:  mandarin, pink pepper, peach, lilac, geranium, amber and patchouli.

The advert featuring actress and singer Rachel Evan Wood is supposed to be sizzling. I couldn’t help but think how much her makeup made me think of that of her boyfriend and now fiancé, Marilyn Manson.

See our previous post about it here.

Chris Evans and Evan Rachel Wood Promote Guilty

Gucci’s Frida Giannini launches the brand’s latest fragrance with a pop-art nod to American culture: Hollywood stars, fast cars, and high indulgence

By Rachel Rosenblit

Frida GianniniPhoto: Benoit Peverelli

Giannini wears her own Gucci dress and bracelet. See photos of Chris Evans and Evan Rachel Wood from the shoot below

Graphic novelist Frank Miller is often called a “visionary”—a loaded, hot-air term for many but nearly an understatement for him. He dreams up worlds we’ve never fathomed, like the anarchic, crime-ridden metropolis where prostitutes mobilize in his codirecting debut, Sin City, and refashions history into timeless allegory, as with the 480 b.c. Battle of Thermopylae, sensationalized to controversial effect in 300. His noir-camp aesthetic is gritty, base, and grandiose—and when his drawings are brought to life on-screen, he exhausts the most cutting-edge CGI to re-create every outline, every hue. A film conceived by Miller is visual candy in the most magnificent way.

One world Miller has never dared enter is fashion, let alone fragrance. But Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director (and visionary in her own right) had big plans for Gucci Guilty, her new patchouli-based mandarin-lilac concoction for the “daring type—a woman who likes to take risks, not sit around and wait for things to happen,” she says. In Giannini’s four-year tenure, she’s known the payoffs of taking risks. Her fall collection mixed wintry monotones in whites and steel grays with nods to postmodern whimsy: camel hair combined with neoprene, leather woven with fox fur. It drew a fluid line between sensuality and strength: a tight, body-conscious dress with cutouts and, not two looks later, an androgynous-cool tomboy trouser suit. Giannini’s Gucci girl is a lover of classics with touches of flash, a boho hippie beholden to luxury. But where fashion fantasies leave off, the allure of fragrance can pick up, flush with the promise of sense memory, lust, and covetable identity. To capture a milieu of Guilty-ness—worthy of inspiring the most irresistible transgressions—Giannini didn’t want just an ad campaign; she wanted a graphic novel turned 3-D short film, an auteur’s take on fantasy in the guise of a 60-second commercial.

“Frank Miller is absolutely unique,” Giannini says. “He designed an entire city around Gucci Guilty. I received the storyboards directly from him and could immediately see his vision. I could smell the streets in the movie.”

Action: Driving a white ’53 Jaguar, a woman clad in tight black leather speeds across a skyscraper-flanked bridge to the hauntingly remixed electropop of Depeche Mode’s “Strangelove” (“I give in to sin/ Because you have to make this life livable…”). She screeches to a halt, steps out of the car (close-up on her Gucci leather-and-croc platform stilettos), and flashes back to a pulse-pounding encounter between herself and a smoldering stranger in a bar.

The smoldering stranger is Chris Evans, the 29-year-old actor whose classic good looks and carved-from-granite pecs helped casting agents envision him as the chiseled comic book heroes in Fantastic Four, The Losers, and next year’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Evans spent the summer filming What’s Your Number?, a romantic comedy costarring Anna Faris, in his hometown of Boston, where his family and friends still live. “I missed my high school reunion because I was filming the ad for Gucci,” he says, “but I still hang out with every person I would’ve wanted to see. Nobody moved away; they’re all still dating each other. There’s something in the water.” Evans is close with his mom (“She’s quite a lady—a ballbuster. Real Boston”), cries at Legends of the Fall (“every time”), and loves “smelling something and immediately being taken somewhere,” he says, “like, Oh my God, it’s camp! Or—Jesus—third-grade gym!” Evans is a breath of charisma, a first date you’d love to have. But in Miller’s ad, he kills with just a look.

“He’s an exceptionally wholesome, sensitive guy, but his face becomes so powerful in front of the camera,” Giannini says.

“I’ve spent my whole career designing the hero,” Miller says, “and [Evans] seems to fit the shoes beautifully.”

Enter the femme fatale: Evan Rachel Wood, the 22-year-old Golden Globe–nominated actress and star of Thirteen, The Wrestler, and Across the Universe. Choosing Wood to be the Guilty one was a slick move on Giannini’s part: Not only is she “such a talented and beautiful girl,” as Giannini says, but she brims with intrigue, famous for her unsubtly subversive transformation from a perky blond actress with a wide smile to a mysterious pinup girl with a penchant for blood red lips and black tattoos. Now engaged to Marilyn Manson, Wood starred in the singer’s “Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand)” video as a wide-eyed fan who has sex with Manson amid a downpour of blood.

“Guilty is about a guilty pleasure,” Wood says. “Full throttle, living in the moment, living dangerously. A girl with a bit of wild side. Scent plays a big role in what you’re turned on by. When you fall in love with someone, and you take a piece of their clothing or smell that pillow—it kills you.”

Wood recently finished filming HBO’s upcoming ’30s-set miniseries Mildred Pierce, a remake of the 1945 film noir starring Joan Crawford, an actress Wood says she’s “idolized my whole life.” Crawford didn’t exactly comprise a tidy Hollywood package, and neither does Wood—but no one could deny either woman’s devotion to her livelihood. By channeling the same fierce integrity that they would bring to a feature film, Wood, Miller, and Evans have lent Gucci’s newest fragrance an inextricable artfulness.

“A guiding rule of mine was that there would be nothing that wouldn’t be gorgeous—the car, the woman, the buildings,” Miller says. “I was on the lookout for the tiniest speck of anything that would’ve looked less than lovely. With Frida on the set, I hardly had to—she’s got an eagle eye. She knows exactly what she wants.”

“I think everyone, in the past, has had a moment—something romantic or sexy or sensual—that lasts for the rest of their lives,” Giannini says. “That’s the provocation for the commercial: the essence of the strong experience. I hope these images will stay in people’s minds for a long time.”

Below, the stars of the Gucci Guilty campaign, shot for ELLE.

On her: Python lace-embroidered shiftdress, $4,795, printed stockings, $95, white gold charm bracelet, $525, white gold and diamond horse-bit bracelet, price upon request, all, Gucci, at select Gucci stores nationwide. Her own ring. On him: Dress shirt, $355, wool pants (sold with matching suit jacket), $2,650, both, Gucci, call 800-456-7663.

What is the difference between a Monokini and traditional One Piece Swimsuit? via [butterfliesandbikinis]

The modern monokini takes its design from the bikini, and is also described as “more of a cut-out one-piece swimsuit,”with designers using fabric, mesh, chain, or other materials to link the top and bottom sections together, though the appearance may not be functional, but rather only aesthetic.

One of the difficulties in fitting a One Piece is torso length. Each woman is different and when you have a one piece the torso design of that suit can fit women only in that range. With a Monokini, the top is attached with a small amount of fabric, chain or other allowing for greater variance of torso length, making fit easy and comfortable.

Monokinis are all the rage. Many girls who would never wear a traditional one piece now wear and flaunt themselves in the sexy fashion forward designer fashions.

A Halter Style Sexy One Piece and Monokini

There are many different styles to fit each figure, taste, and occasion. A halter style one-piece is a great choice for larger busted woman who needs support, and lifts the bust.

The lift and support of a Halter can also add the appearance of fuller breast to woman with moderate to smaller bust size, making it perfect for almost any figure type.

Sexy Cut Out Styles

Over the past few years many top swimwear designers continue to create sexy side cut cut and cut out one-piece bathing suits that totally heat up the beach in various sizzling designs.

Some women are self conscious of their tummy area but have other assets they want to show off. Many of these suit designs cover the areas of concern directing the attention to more flattering aspects of your figure. Be sexy and be confident, with designs that give the appearance of a more slender waist, curvaceous hips, plunging neckline, and totally hot bottom.

Deep V-Neck and Plunging Neckline

Beautiful designs by Agua Bendita, Beach Bunny, L*Space, OndadeMar, SABZ, SAHA, and more…………Daring, sexy and flirtatious making you ultra- sexy and eye- Candy.

With the choices available in One Piece Swimsuits and Monokinis, you have endless opportunities to show off your best assets. For some it’s their breasts, others their legs, and some a great looking booty.

Sex and the City 2 Party: Abu Dhabi Style

SATC 2! Decadence in the Desert!

Couture, camels, and cocktails! Sex and the City 2 has landed the fab four right in the middle of the Arabian Desert and the ladies have never looked better exquisitely clothed in their designer drapings against a backdrop of cinematic sand dunes. Fill your Champange flutes and get ready to party “Abu Dhabi” style for the premiere of the Sex and the City 2 in theaters May 27th, 2010! Can you hear the decadence calling…?

Souk Entrance

  • A souk is an open-air Arabic market and more importantly, where Carrie and Aidan (her “what if” guy) meet up by pure coincidence in Abu Dhabi.
  • Deck out your own souk as an entrance to the party. Hang lanterns, baskets, and colorful lengths of fabric criss-crossing overhead for a fab flea market feel to get all in the mood.

Scraves and Sparkle Under Canopies

  • Purchase or rent white canopies for guests to dine under or as a covering for the food table. I usually go with the E-Z Up brand for events as the height is adjustable and they are simple to set up.
  • Drape long scarves or lengths of fabric from the top corners of the canopy down to the ground.
  • Dangle strands of crystals from the edge of the canopy and its center if there is an inner-structure where you can hang them securely.

The girls head to Morocco in this sequel, so set out a tableful of light bites, such as olives, dates, assorted cheeses and nuts arranged in small bowls. You can also add rice pilaf or couscous with saffron, chicken, beef or lamb kebobs. True foodies, now’s the time to dig out your tangine. I’m happy to just cocktail!

Download the Sex and the City 2 movie soundtrack, sure to get everyone in a flirty mood. I can’t stop playing Alicia Key’s Empire State of Mind and Cee-lo‘s Language of Love. Then, dish about old loves, new ones, and the ones that got away. Most importantly, wear something stunning — shoes to die for, and your favorite dress and accessories. For help here, I always click to see what my fashionista friends are dishing about, Rachel Zoe or Kayln Johnson give a girl a closet full of ideas. Currently I am rocking the wrap dress in white ( thank you DVF), strappy heels and gold aviator glasses, I say, take some liberties, have some fun, and channel your inner Carrie.

With coveted movie tickets in hand, take the party on the road. Dressed to the nines, you and your girlfriends will revel in the spotlight. Carrie & Co. would be proud!

Floor Pillows and Low Dining Table Trays

  • Use floor pillows for guests to sit on while dining at low tables.
  • To make a low table, place sturdy plastic milk crates on the ground and cover them with fabric or scarves.
  • Set a large round tray on top or a wood circle, available at many home improvement stores for standard tabletops.

Bad-Ass Shoe Designer from Paris, Raphael Young   by Cody Ross

PARIS/NYC: Raphael Young is the intriguing, bad-ass shoe designer hailing from Paris. His collections are explorations in extreme craftsmanship, angular geometrics and monochrome embellishment that seem fundamentally fresh — yet reflect the classical style/quality of the iconic design houses and influences that nurtured his vision, including his uncle, legendary Monsieur Alexandre Narcy, who was the footwear director at YSL for over four decades.
In just three seasons Raphael (who is 34 and of Korean heritage) has cemented a position as the ‘edgiest’ most sought-after shoe creator by fashion aficionados the world over. This week, Raphael sat in the Priestess NYC atelier in the West Village, showcasing the intricate details of his super-durable carbon-composite heels and boots in a mosaic of metal and leather. From Vogue and Lucky to The Museum at FIT, the critics were mesmerized.
While they all heap praise on the collection, Raphael has the more theatrical role of conveying his vision — especially now that his talent has been recognized by major publications and prominent stores, and is the reason he has come to NYC to percolate his brand. Paul Viguier, Raphael’s Marketing Manager, says “creativity and craftsmanship are in his blood and Raphael gives methodical attention to detail, research and quality.”

Looking like a character from the d’Artagnan era, dressed in dark tones with his wavy-slick black hair and leather-spiked boots, Raphael is one of those rare talents who seem to fall from the sky — although the reality of his story is decades of hard work and collaborations with venerable design houses from YSL and Manish Arora to the Korean powerhouse, Avista-Kaylee Tankus. Yet for all his practical knowledge of design and production, his philosophy is fundamentally that of a master artisan.

“What interests me about shoes is the transformational process,” he says. “The process of turning a concept into a concrete with amazing artistic attributes and properties that cannot be easily replicated.”
For the AW/09 collection, that means focusing on futurist motifs and morphing images of the Art Nouveau and Bauhaus periods into chic battle armor shoes and boots for exquisite women: indestructible carbon and aluminum heels with silhouettes comprised of the finest nappa and specchio nero leathers and audacious metallic finishes.
He cites Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, Zaha Hadid and Le Corbusier as serious inspirations and is very keen on light-weight materials such as carbon-fibers and composites. Raphael’s contribution to modern fashion has been both his technical and abstract treatments of embellishment and innovative/cool décor. His ‘Eagle One’ Aluminio heels are to die for and have been seen on ‘it’ girls Eleonora Abbagnato (Dancer Etoile of the Opera de Paris), singer Katy Perry and bomb-shell Bond-girl, Olga Kurylenko. His work conjures images of strong, sophisticated women fused with courageous femininity.

Born in 1974 in Seoul and adopted by French parents, Raphael was raised in Romans near Avignone. His father was an engineer and his mother a pediatrician. Steeped in fashion from an early age and mentored by his uncle who was a master technician-artisan, he moved to Paris and in no time was recognized as a creative-genius. (He was also a Naval cadet where he took a keen interest in uniform tailoring and French military design).
Raphael showed his first eponymous collection three seasons ago in Paris and swiftly became a cult figure. Embedded in his work is a ‘gothic-chic-futurism’ that juxtaposes leather matte and shine, playing with textures and their reflective qualities. There’s nothing remotely simple about the complex, futuristic synthesis of line, cut, and glinting surfaces that manifest beautifully in his work (it is as if they might have been extruded from some techno-industrial machine). The shoe range is amazing and comes in iridescent gold, silver and copper tones enveloped in soft leathers with a raw, motor-bike aura.
Raphael’s genius is his projection of couture techniques into a universe of advancing and changing technology. A crude description might be “sci-fi gothic motorbike couture,” but in truth the right words are hard to find.

Raphael Young defies references or narrative, and fuses experimentation with materials and sculpture to the Nth-power. He is a visionary designer who is humble and grounded and whose shoes are, well, superb!

Cookie Couture: Almost Too Pretty To Eat

When you’re surrounded by fashionistas, it’s near impossible to buy gifts for birthdays, holidays, etc. that they’ll truly appreciate. (Personal style is such a bitch!) But in my experience, you can never go wrong with cookies — especially cookies as fashionable as these.

Tonight you’ll want a drink that has enough kick to make you kick it to the cutie over by the DJ booth. The Blackberry Collins is just for you. This drink combines DeKuyper Blackberry, lemon juice, sugar syrup, and soda water with Hendrick’s Gin (the subtle notes of cucumber, rose petal and other botanicals make it the perfect mate for berry-flavored mixers). Dark, strong and sweet… it’s the way to go for a late summer’s night drink… or date (smile).

Candy” pumps by Shoes for Lovely People

Whether you’re wearing these sandals to happy hour or the hottest nightspot, you have to order a drink with the “Midas touch”. Start with a shot of Goldschlager at your favorite dive bar (don’t want everyone to see you drink like a coed), if you dare. If you’ve never had it, it tastes like Red Hots on acid. Then, at the bar du jour, request a Goldfinger. A combination of Goldschlager, Grand Marnier and ginger ale, it’s a sweet, spicy way to kick your summer fun into high gear.

Sam Edelman’s “Nova”

Take the frilly femme fatale theme a step further tonight by ordering a “Hot Pink Handgun” (credit: esquire.com) when you go out for drinks. Have the bartender blend Seraphin Cognac, orgeat syrup and a little lemon juice with a few raspberries and a teaspoon of super fine sugar. The recipe also calls for an egg white, but you can try that at your own risk. Egg or not, this sweet drink will have you swooning, but remember cognac can leave you reeling if you overdo it.

Be & D’s Chaimberlain

Chances are there will be open bars at every event you attend, but who needs sponsored liquor when you have a killer expense account? Let the “little people” drink whatever’s on tap for the night, and order an “Indulgence.” (Make sure the bar back puts yours in a proper glass. Shots can be so un-chic). It’s sweet and thick, but it packs a kick. If your request brings a question mark to his or her face, instruct the wonderful individual to layer De Kuyper’s brown Creme de Cacao, Disaronno Amaretto and Amarula cream into a glass and into that exact order. If it’s done without blending the layers, leave a great tip.

STELLA McCARTNEY’s patent Platform Wedge

Whether you’re in the Big Apple or not, toast the occasion with a “Lady of the Evening” (image courtesy of Imperia). It’s served at the Bryant Park Hotel’s Cellar Bar for $25, but you may be able to score one at your area’s swankiest spot. Just let the bartender know it’s a standard martini made with Imperia Vodka and a cucumber and caviar float.

Patent Peep-Toed Studded Pumps by La Silla

Though these shoes are entirely intoxicating on their own, you H-A-V-E to take them out for a twirl and a drink. A mojito or mint julep will easily echo the charm of these heels, but aren’t you tired of those already? Try something new, and spring for a Mint Summer Nightini. This one came courtesy of the folks at CocktailTimes and blends (and I quote) Stoli Blackberri, cucumber juice, simple syrup and muddled mint leaves. It’s sweet, but crisp and is the ideal drink for an evening such as this.

“Fortuna” sandal by Georgina Goodman

It’s been said that a Bloody Mary is a pretty reliable hangover remedy, but that’s more a brunch drink than something you’d order at happy hour. Opt instead for a Tomato-Basiltini (image courtesy Intoxicated Zodiac). From the folks at Intoxicated Zodiac (check Scorpio), it says you’re the kind of gal who likes flavor but isn’t all about the sweet stuff. Have your bartender muddle tomato water, a little sea salt and 3 fresh basil leaves. Then add Prairie Vodka (or other organic vodka with rustic notes) and shake over ice. Tomato water is hard to come by, but be flexible and tip well if your bartender is able to figure something out.

Bruno Frisoni ankleboots

A pair of shoes such as these calls for a cocktail that’s just as rustically elegant and indulgent. Sashay into the most luxurious watering hole and see if the bartender can muster up a Truffle Margarita (Image courtesy of Ideas in Food). (He/she probably won’t know how, so get your pen and pad ready). From the minds of Ideas in Food’s Chefs Aki Kamozawa and H. Alexander Talbot, it combines Corazon Blanco Tequila (or other top shelf substitution) with a splash of maple syrup and truffle oil and is garnished with truffle slices and a lime wedge. This isn’t a sweet drink, but simply having it in your hand means you’re an intelligent imbiber.
